Oklahoma City Thunder big man Nerlens Noel is an unrestricted free agent this offseason and he could sign with his old team, the Philadelphia 76ers.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Noel could reunite with the Sixers in free agency after Philly waived Norvel Pelle.

Now, sources says, there’s a real chance Noel, 25, could reunite with the Sixers. Teams officially will be permitted to contact free agents or their agents at 6 p.m. Friday. Players will be allowed to sign free-agent deals at 12:01 p.m. Monday.

New Sixers president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey, has also been a fan of his playing style for some time, according to sources.

Nerlens Noel played the first two and a half years of his career with the Sixers. He averaged 10.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 171 games with Philly.

With the Thunder in 2019-20, Noel put up 7.4 points, 4.9 boards and 1.5 blocks while shooting 68.4 percent from the field. OKC could be embarking on a rebuild after trading point guard Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns and combo guard Dennis Schroder to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Thunder also acquired Al Horford from the Sixers, who got swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2020 playoffs at Walt Disney World. All-Star point-forward Ben Simmons didn't play in the series due to a knee injury that required surgery.

In 361 NBA games with the Sixers, Dallas Mavericks and Thunder, Noel has career averages of 8.0 points and 6.2 rebounds.
