If the Philadelphia 76ers really want to trade Ben Simmons, as has been the talk all offseason long, then Jalen Rose thinks they may have to wait for a bit.

Simmons appears to be firm on wanting to be traded away from the Sixers, and Philly seems to feel the same way. However, the team's asking price for the Australian playmaker remains sky-high, which is why no team is willing to do the deal with them.

As Rose noted, the Sixers are approaching it the wrong way. Like in stocks, you don't sell during the dip and instead wait for the market to get back up. With that, he advised Daryl Morey and Elton Brand to instead let Simmons play and try to get his value back up. After all, there is no way they could get what they're asking  for after Simmons' horrendous display during the 2021 playoffs when his shooting woes were exposed.

“So if you're Philly and you're trying to move him after that, you're just not gonna get the value of the player in return. He's gonna have to come to camp and play his value back up. When you do an extension with Joel Embiid, I'm pretty sure you talked to him about the future of Ben Simmons,” Rose said during the latest episode of Jalen & Jacoby.

“So you bring him back to camp, you start the season with him, you hope that he plays remotely like he was playing last year as he became the Defensive Player of the Year candidate–as he can flirt with triple-doubles. There are so many valuable things he can bring to the table. Then, if and when that value re-elevates, that’s when you try to move him, especially for what they're gonna be asking for in return.”

The latest rumors claim that the Sixers are looking for at least four first-round picks and an All-Star caliber player for any Simmons trade, which is certainly a steep price for a player that still has a lot to prove.

With that said, Jalen Rose is right that the Sixers need to have the patience before deciding to trade Simmons since they don't have much leverage at the moment.

There have been reports of Philly talking with the Minnesota Timberwolves for a possible Simmons deal, but there hasn't been much progress in that regard  as well.

It remains to be seen where Simmons will end up with, but it shouldn't be surprising if he starts 2021-22 with the Sixers before the team tries to trade him again by the deadline.
