According to an official statement released by the Eastern Conference franchise on Tuesday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers will be adding a key player to the team's roster. The Sixers have formally announced that rookie guard Zhaire Smith has been recalled from the G League's Delaware Blue Coats.

As a result, the former Texas Tech Red Raiders standout currently remains in line to make his NBA debut on Tuesday evening against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“At walkthrough today, that was Zhaire’s first one of those,” said Sixers head coach Brett Brown on Tuesday, via USA TODAY. “Being in the locker room with his teammates and going through film and then we take what we go through and we walk out on a court and replicate what we just went through in the film and connect those dots.”

The 19-year-old was notably selected by the Phoenix Suns with the No. 16 overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft. However, Smith was then promptly shipped to the Sixers while failing to reach the NBA level before Tuesday.

“He will be with us, whether he gets on the court or not, I do not know,” Brown added. “But he will be with us. I’m excited to have him be a part of us tonight.”

As it stands today, the Sixers sit in third place in the Eastern Conference standings behind only the first place Milwaukee Bucks and second place Toronto Raptors. The Sixers are currently sporting an impressive 42-25 record on the season as well.
