Jimmy Butler would reportedly have stayed with the Philadelphia 76ers this summer if the Sixers offered him a five-year max deal, but the franchise didn't offer him one, according to Dave Early of Liberty Ballers.

Butler signed a four-year, $140.79 million contract with the Miami Heat as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Sixers. Philly acquired Josh Richardson from the Heat:

Well it appears that all of that turnover did not deter the team’s brass from embracing even more change in order to get what they believe is the best balance of players (and personalities) per dollar onto the final roster. According to a person with knowledge of the way the front office thinks in Philadelphia, the Sixers were not interested in bringing Jimmy Butler back and did not offer him the five-year offer he was seeking from them.

According to the source, Butler would have taken a five-year max offer to stay, as securing the final year of a long term deal was one of his priorities.

Butler averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sixers.

Butler was arguably the Sixers' most consistent player in the 2019 playoffs, where Philly lost to the Toronto Raptors in seven games in the second round.

The Sixers rebounded nicely after losing Butler to the Heat and JJ Redick to the New Orleans Pelicans. Philly signed Al Horford in free agency and now has a stout starting lineup featuring Ben Simmons, Richardson, Tobias Harris, Horford and Joel Embiid.
