While trade rumors involving Ben Simmons have been circulating the NBA mediasphere all offseason, it appears that Simmons might have to start yet another season in Philadelphia despite a clear strain between the two parties.

On a recent episode of “Brian Windhorst and the Hoop Collective,” the titular host said that there just haven't been any substantial discussions between the 76ers and any potential trade partners.

‘The teams that have talked to Philly, they are not right now in the mode for trading Ben Simmons,” Windhorst said. “It doesn’t mean that he’s not available, but right now it does not appear that there are any active discussions for Ben Simmons. I think Ben is preparing to start the season with Philadelphia.”

Windhorst and fellow ESPN reporter Tim Bontemps both stated that unless a Damian Lillard or a Bradley Beal suddenly become actively available as trade targets (meaning they are actually requesting a trade), the Sixers are willing to wait out the market a bit.

Simmons value is nowhere near its apex, with yet another Sixers' playoff flameout fresh in everyone's mind. Simmons was once again reluctant to shoot the ball, and he shot a putrid 34.2% from the free throw line through 12 postseason games.

If Lillard or Beal do become available, the Sixers would have to offer more than just Simmons. Look for Matisse Thybulle and a myriad of future assets to be thrown in if Philly hopes to get that level of a deal done, assuming these superstars have a desire to get to Philly. Simmons is still only 24 years old, and has proven to be one of the best defensive players in all of basketball.

The Sixers' training camp begins on Sept. 28. Their first regular season game will tip off on Oct. 20 in New Orleans as they square off against Zion Williamson and the Pelicans.
