The first-person adventure puzzle game The Spectrum Retreat makes its debut on the Epic Games Store. To get eyes on the game, it debuts as the storefront's free game of the week for July 1 to July 7, 2021.

The Spectrum Retreat is set in The Penrose Hotel, a mysterious hotel where you are the only guest. Receiving a mysterious call from a certain Cooper, he tasks you to explore each floor of the hotel to find a way to the rooftop. Each floor has its own challenging puzzle for you to solve. As you go through each floor, you regain your memories and discover why you are in the hotel in the first place.

The Spectrum Retreat first released on the PlayStation 4 in 2018, later coming out on Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch. Critics and journalists see the development of the game as a considerable undertaking. Dan Smith, the game's creator, started working on the project at the age of 15. Over the course of 5 years, Smith will continue development of the game on his own using the Unity engine.

The Spectrum Retreat makes its debut in the Epic Games Store, three years after its original release. While the game received considerable press at its launch, it failed to capture mainstream appeal. This second coming should help it gain a second wind and find a new playerbase to experience its unique puzzles.
