The team-based FPS with Portal-esque elements, Splitgate, is getting its final release delayed. July 27 was the game's original launch date. This is after it has spent a couple of years in Early Access. Splitgate experienced a surge in popularity recently due to the addition of cross-play compatibility with Xbox and Playstation. However, this has caused several server issues, which is the cause of the game's delay. As of now, 1047 games have not announced a specific Splitgate release date. However, the devs have released the Season 0 Beta update, which came with a slew of new content and features. This announcement came out at Gamescom earlier this week. Notably, a venture capital firm has also invested $10 million to the game's developers, 1047 Games. This will allow them to expand their team and give them more resources to address their current server issues.

1047 Games' CEO Ian Prolux stated in an official statement: “Our team has been blown away by the incredible reception the Splitgate community has shown us. With the steep and sudden increase in players trying to access servers, we’re having to sort out a myriad of technical issues that come with this level of insane growth.”

Splitgate Release Date: Season 0 Beta – August 25, 2021

While the Splitgate release date still hasn't been set in stone, it has released a considerably beefy Season 0 update to its Open Beta. This comes with a new map, Karman Station, which reimagines the original Outpost map, replacing it. They also released the Splitgate Season 0 Battle Pass, which has 100 levels. It features new armor, weapon skins, nametags, banners, and portal skins. Season Challenges are also fully unlocked with the Battle Pass. Additionally, the Season 0 update also includes two new game modes: Contamination and Casual Team Rumble. A Final Kill Cam feature has also been added due to popular demand. Alongside this new content also comes a slew of quality of life changes and some balancing reworks.
