The San Antonio Spurs are one of just two teams to have three first-round picks in the 2022 NBA Draft. It's hard to ask for a better situation as they look to get back to the postseason.

With the 9th, 20th and 25th picks, San Antonio has a world of possibilities for who to draft and trades to make. The Spurs were close to making the play-in game but ultimately lost out just near the end of the season. With the likelihood of Gregg Popovich's retirement growing, they could lean harder into a rebuild.

With Dejounte Murray at the center of the rebuild and other promising players like Keldon Johnson and Devil Vassell around him the Spurs should target high-ceiling players as well as some individual needs for their team. They will go as far as their best players take them but they still need support behind them.

Spurs' 3 biggest needs entering 2022 NBA Draft

3. 3-point shooting

The Spurs were middle-of-the-pack in 3-point efficiency while not taking too many attempts. Although Keldon Johnson has grown as a shooter, Doug McDermott and Devin Vassell are strong shooters and Josh Primo could be one soon, it isn't nearly enough.

San Antonio has three picks to find someone who can light it up from deep, which gives them a lot of options for the type of shooter they want. The Spurs have the picks to make a splash for someone like Jabari Smith, wait until their ninth pick for someone like AJ Griffin or wait until later in the draft for someone like Ochai Agbaji or Ryan Rollins.

2. Center depth

Behind Jakob Poeltl, the Spurs don't have any truly reliable bigs. Given that Poeltl's contract expires after next season, the Spurs should find his backup/potential replacement.

The Spurs don't need to add a multi-dimensional center, though it would be great if they happen to land one. What they just need is someone who can hold his own in the paint as a defender and lob threat. Any skills further than that would be great, especially playmaking and defensive versatility.

Fortunately, this year's draft class offers lots of premier options at the center spot. Jalen Duren, Mark Williams, Walker Kessler and Ismael Kamagate could all suffice. Even someone who is more equipped for the power forward spot like Tari Eason would be a good addition.

1. Rim pressure

The Spurs, above all else, need someone to help Murray break down defenses. They were terrible at drawing fouls and were below average in the halfcourt offensively. San Antonio can't ride Murray's one-man-band act back to relevance.

San Antonio has to find a player who can handle the ball and facilitate the offense. Someone who has a knack for attacking the paint is preferred though it doesn't have to be someone with a lead foot on the gas pedal. A player with a quick first step or shiftiness to get by defenders is what the Spurs should covet.

At the top of the draft is Jaden Ivey, who San Antonio would have to trade up for. He would absolutely be worth it and the Sacramento Kings are willing to trade their 4th overall pick. With the ninth pick, they could add Johnny Davis or TyTy Washington. Later in the first round, Jaden Hardy and Kennedy Chandler will likely be available.

The beauty of San Antonio's situation is how they can fill each need in one draft. Even if they use their first-rounders in trades, they have the 38th pick, too. The 2022 NBA Draft could be the start of something great if they play their cards right.
