Things have taken yet another turn for the San Antonio Spurs regarding Kawhi Leonard's future with the franchise after reportedly requesting a trade this summer.

This latest development has had another former longtime Spur Bruce Bowen has weighed in on the situation where he isn't holding back his feelings about what has unfolded over the last several months, via SiriusXM NBA Radio.

“I think there's nothing but excuses going on. You're the franchise and you want to say that the Spurs didn't have your best interest at heart? Are kidding me?”

This is still a fluid matter that the Spurs are hoping to salvage to keep their All-Star forward in the mix for the long haul. with the possibility of inking him to the supermax deal for five years worth $219 million. However, these comments from Bowen could embody what many inside the organization feel about how Leonard has responded to the handling of his injury this past season.

San Antonio holds great importance with what the 26-year-old means to the franchise long-term future as their centerpiece to the puzzle. Leonard is in the prime of his career where he is regarded as being one of the best players in the league with his elite play on both ends of the floor. The only question that remains is his health at this point.

Hall of Famer and former Spurs great David Robinson had given his take on the situation last week voicing that he hopes that Leonard could step up to speak for himself rather than letting those around him air his feelings to the franchise for him. Robinson also stated that he believes that head coach Gregg Popovich can mend the fences on both sides like he was able to do so with All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who had also desired a trade.
