The Admiral is ordering Kawhi Leonard on deck right now. We’re talking about former San Antonio Spurs superstar and basketball Hall of Famer David Robinson, who gave his thoughts about the current saga engulfing the Spurs in relation to Leonard’s intent to part ways with the team.

In a recent appearance on ESPN’s Get Up!, Robinson said that while he understands that Leonard may be a little displeased with how things are going in San Antonio, it should not hinder him from letting people hear his side (h/t Nick Schwartz of USA TODAY).

“I still think Kawhi has a tremendous amount of respect for Pop, and Pop has a tremendous amount of respect for him – and, really, that’s what it boils down to at the end of the day. Can two guys get together and talk about things? Now, there’s a lot of other voices in the mix, and so who knows? But last year LaMarcus Aldridge was kind of disgruntled and they sat down, they figured that out like men.”

Kawhi Leonard is not known to be one to grab the microphone to let people hear what’s going through his mind, but a lot speculation and rumors will effectively be cleared if only he had at least the desire to speak for himself. From the vantage point of David Robinson, Leonard is being a little bit too lenient in allowing others from his camp to dictate his future.

“I think for Kawhi, it’s about growing up, right? You step into that responsibility, man, you’re the face of the franchise. You can’t *not* talk, right? You’ve got to let people hear your voice, not somebody else’s.”

Leonard played in only nine games last season, largely because of an enigmatic quad injury. He has one more year left on his deal worth $21.3 million, but he has reportedly asked the Spurs to trade him somewhere else.
