The 2018 NBA offseason took an unexpected turn Wednesday morning when the San Antonio Spurs traded Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green to the Toronto Raptors for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl, and a protected 2019 first-round pick. Since the news broke, fans and players have chimed in with their reactions, with some bitter and some nostalgic.

According to reports, both Leonard and DeRozan were less than pleased when they learned of this deal. In fact, DeRozan posted a frustrated take on his Instagram account.

Green, however, took a different approach. Instead of vitriol, Green displayed appreciation to the city of San Antonio and its fans:

Green, now 31 years of age, became a fan favorite in San Antonio. The former UNC Tar Heel donned a silver and black uniform for eight seasons, endearing himself as a reliable option on both ends of the floor.

In his 70 appearances with the Spurs last season, Green racked up averages of 8.6 points on 38.7 percent shooting from the field (36.3 percent from beyond the arc), 3.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and just under one steal (0.9) in 25.6 minutes per outing.

Though DeRozan and Leonard may be a bit put off by this deal, it seems Green is open to a new beginning. We will see how these players fare in a new setting.
