The San Antonio Spurs have been without point guard Dejounte Murray this year after a promising sophomore campaign in 2017-18.

Murray tore his right ACL in the preseason and is working his way back. However, he gave an extremely encouraging update on Twitter on Friday.

March 8 is exactly five months to the day (October 8) he was diagnosed with a torn right ACL. The 22-year-old seemed well aware of the milestone and was ready to give his fans an update on his health.

Dunking the ball may not seem like much of a feat for a 6-foot-5 NBA player, but just five months off a torn ACL means that he's progressing well.

Last season, Murray averaged 8.1 points to go along with 5.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He also managed 1.2 steals and shot a solid 44.3 percent from the field. Most encouraging of all was the fact that he did all of that in 21.5 minutes per contest.

The expectations were that he would get an expanded role this season. That would hopefully lead to Murray soon becoming a centerpiece of the franchise for years to come.

Of course, that plan is on hold for the moment, but it's good to see that the Spurs can win without him (37-29). Once he's brought back into the fold, the team will have another major piece in place.

It's hard not to be encouraged by this twitter update. Dejounte Murray has an extremely bright future ahead of him and it's good to see that he won't let this injury change that.

It's safe to say there will be more updates in the future from Murray himself as everyone patiently waits for his return.
