To say that Kawhi Leonard's season has not gone according to plan is definitely an understatement. After missing all but nine games this season due to a right quad tendinopathy, he was listed as out indefinitely, and even head coach Gregg Popovich believed that he wouldn't be able to return to action for the remainder of the campaign anymore. However, that may not be the case, as a new development has recently emerged.

The San Antonio Spurs star forward could reportedly suit up for the team as early as this coming Tuesday, when they face the Orlando Magic, or on Thursday versus the New Orleans Pelicans should he not suffer any setback, according to Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News.

The two-time All-Star and Defensive Player of the Year last played for the Spurs in mid-January, and has since been placed on the shelf. Not a lot of news came out about his recovery, but the latest development is very good news for the San Antonio faithful, as they know what Leonard can bring to the team. He was widely considered as the best two-way player in the league before getting injured, and is the focal point of the Spurs on both ends of the floor.

His potential return is very timely as well, as the Spurs have lost eight of their last 10 outings, and saw their record drop to 37-29 for the season. They are now only in seventh place in the Western Conference, but with Leonard healthy again, it will be a huge boost to them, and will definitely help them propel themselves up the standings once again.
