San Antonio Spurs big man LaMarcus Aldridge says it's a “blessing” to have his contract guaranteed for next season.

Aldridge signed a two-year, $50 million deal with the Spurs in October of 2017. He previously had only $7 million guaranteed for next season:

The Spurs opened the 2019-20 campaign with a win over the New York Knicks at home. Aldridge put up 22 points and eight rebounds in 35 minutes while shooting 8-of-15 from the field.

Aldridge will make $26 million this season for the Spurs. He played in 81 games in 2018-19 and averaged 21.3 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest while shooting 51.9 percent from the floor, 23.8 percent from beyond the arc and 84.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The Spurs won 48 games last season, finishing in the seventh spot in the Western Conference standings. San Antonio lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs in seven games. Aldridge put up 20.0 points and 9.6 rebounds in the series.

DeMar DeRozan and Aldridge are the two best players on the Spurs. The team will ultimately go as far as the two All-Stars can take them.

It helps, though, that point guard Dejounte Murray is back this season after missing all of 2018-19 with an ACL tear. San Antonio can’t wait to see Murray and shooting guard Derrick White wreck havoc together on defense, as both players are strong perimeter defenders.
