San Antonio Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge had a career game against the Boston Celtics, and his 48-point performance put him in the franchise record books.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Aldridge’s scoring outburst is his most points in a road game. Even more remarkable, he becomes the first ever Spurs player to score 40 points or more against the Celtics in TD Garden.

LaMarcus Aldridge undoubtedly had a field day against the Celtics, as he took advantage of the home team’s lackluster defense to dominate. Aldridge finished on 20-of-31 shooting overall while adding 13 boards and six assists to his scoring tally.

The Spurs veteran was a threat in the painted area, and Boston literally had no answer for him. In fact, Aldridge made and attempted only one 3-pointer in the game.

The Spurs swept their two-game season series against Boston, with Aldridge top-scoring for the team in both matches. The 33-year-old banked 32 points against the Beantown team to lead San Antonio to a 120-111 victory before the New Year.

Before his latest feat, Aldridge’s highest scoring output on the road this season is 38 points, against the Los Angeles Clippers last December 29. Overall, his 48 points is his second-highest mark this year, having scored 56 in their double-overtime thriller versus the Oklahoma City Thunder early in January.
