Veteran free agent forward Dante Cunningham has agreed to join the San Antonio Spurs on a one-year deal, according to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Yahoo! Finance reports that Cunningham was considering the Spurs and Brooklyn Nets as potential landing spots in recent days. Ultimately, the former Villanova Wildcat agreed to the offer presented by San Antonio.

Cunningham, now 31 years of age, is a 6-foot-8 forward who split 73 games with the Brooklyn Nets and New Orleans Pelicans last season, racking up averages of 5.7 points on 45.1 percent shooting from the field (34.5 percent from beyond the arc) and 4.1 rebounds in 21.1 minutes per outing.

The Spurs (47-35 and 3rd in the Southwest Division last regular season) likely made the move for Cunningham to bolster their front-court rotation, as he's a versatile wing player.

“After making just two 3-point shots in his first six NBA seasons, Cunningham has shown an increased willingness to fire away from beyond the arc in recent years. Over the last three seasons, he has knocked down 184 threes at a 35.2% rate, solid numbers for a player who sees most of his action at power forward. He’ll likely be expected to continue stretching the floor in San Antonio.”

All in all, Cunningham has been a member of nine teams over the course of his NBA career, including the Nets, Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Minnesota Timberwolves. Let's see how he fares with the Spurs.
