The San Antonio Spurs have been seemingly boxed into a corner with their situation concerning star forward Kawhi Leonard seemingly wanting out this offseason. In the last few days, the franchise has begun to take steps toward remedying their standing with Leonard but doesn't appear to be changing things in any drastic manner.

This current state of the entire matter has pushed the Spurs to at least be open to listening to offers for the 26-year-old but not pursuing a deal themselves to trade him, according to Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports.

San Antonio has much reluctance to go this route with Leonard given what type of talent he has developed into along with the invaluable piece of the puzzle to their long-term future. This situation had been mishandled by the Spurs that led to him going away from the team's medical staff to give another opinion concerning his quad injury.

There is a strong level of mistrust and uneasiness from the Leonard toward the injury that he likely felt San Antonio was pressuring him to get back on the court sooner than he was ready to do so. It has all pushed to this point where the Spurs are having to consider listening to offers for the two-time Defensive Player of the Year in what may turn out to be the only resolution.

This may have already moved past the breaking point for Leonard where a trade to another team is solely becoming the discussion between both sides. He has already made it clear that he wants to be dealt to Los Angeles where either the Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers, who could both quickly enter the picture. Things may foreseeably heat up on this front over the next two days ahead of the 2018 NBA Draft on Thursday night.
