James Harrison is now a retired NFL player, but he continues to be a minor thorn in the side of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former Steelers linebacker, who finished his career with the New England Patriots, recently appeared as a guest on Fox Sports 1’s Undisputed show and dissected the difference between Pats head coach Bill Belichick and Steelers sideline boss Mike Tomlin in a way in which the latter was painted as inferior to the former. Harrison also insinuated that Tomlin practices favoritism in the locker room.

Tomlin has not reacted much to what Harrison said on FS1, dismissing it as “soap opera stuff,” per Chris Adamski of Trib Live, but Steelers veteran defensive end Cameron Heyward was not one to let Harrison’s remarks damage Tomlin’s reputation.

“That’s (Harrison’s) opinion,” said Heyward, the Steelers’ defensive captain, “but it’s all the way you look at things. I was a first-round pick. You didn’t see me start right away, so it’s all in the eye of the beholder. James is entitled to his opinion, but for me personally, I had to work my way up.”

Harrison played 14 seasons in Pittsburgh before he was released by the team last December. After getting waived, Harrison signed with the Pats and played a total of four games in both the regular season and in the playoffs.

James Harrison openly resented his lack of playing time in his final season in Pittsburgh, which was a chief reason why his tenure with the team he helped win two Super Bowl titles had ended.

Mike Tomlin, Cam Heyward, and the rest of the Steelers don’t have to put much focus on whatever Harrison is preaching these days, as the 2018 NFL season is drawing nearer and nearer.
