This past week Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert backed down on his comments earlier this week. He discussed the team's plan to trade away Antonio Brown. Colbert also told reporters about how Ben Roethlisberger had been criticizing other players within the organization.

The gist of his comments was pretty demeaning to players underneath Roethlisberger. He said that he has “52 kids under him.” Colbert truly believes that his star quarterback doesn't get the respect he deserves. However, he discussed on Friday that his quarterback shouldn't belittle others either. There needs to be a fine line.

Colbert told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

“Does that mean we have a bunch of juveniles or anything like that? No, of course not. We’ve got some really good veteran players like a Cam Heyward, or a Maurkice Pouncey who are unquestionable leaders as well. But they’re still not the Super Bowl-winning player that Ben Roethlisberger is. That’s why he is and will continue to be the unquestioned leader of this team. And I still think it would be valuable for all of our players to recognize that, not only ask Ben about that experience but also try to help him get us all back to that Super Bowl win.”

The Steelers have found themselves between a rock and a hard place.

Over the past year, they've dealt with the absence of LeVeon Bell, as well as the fallout between Antonio Brown and the organization. They have a lot of changes and work to do to flip the culture within the organization. Colbert has a lot of pressure on his shoulders to get the job done.
