In a video on Wednesday explaining the Phoenix Suns' broad front office and ownership ineptitude, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that interim general manager James Jones “has an unorthodox view towards the NBA draft” and that “there's not a lot of scouting going on in Phoenix.”

Jones subsequently pushed back on that assessment, telling “Burns and Gambo” on 98.7 that Wojnarowski “doesn't know what's going on inside the building.”

Interesting.

James Jones replaced fired general manager Ryan McDonough on October 8th. Though he has no previous high-level decision-making experience, Jones has been lauded for his intellect, preparation and overall approach to teamwork at every stop of his NBA career. He retired in July 2017 after 14 seasons when Phoenix announced him as its new vice president of basketball operations.

It remains to be seen though how Jones will move come the NBA Draft and what is brewing to be a big offseason, and only time will tell if they can take the team to the next level.

The Suns finally have a promising core of young talent, and it's up to the Suns to build from that. Devin Booker is already one of the league's most dynamic scorers at 23, and he has impressed this season while often playing the role of his team's lead ball handler.

Meanwhile, 2018 top pick DeAndre Ayton is averaging 16.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 58.8 percent from the field, simply proving too talented at times for some of the league's best big men to handle.

Mikal Bridges, T.J. Warren and Kelly Oubre each offer varying strengths on the wing with room to grow going forward.
