The Phoenix Suns were trounced out of the NBA playoffs in humiliating fashion after falling to the Dallas Mavericks, 123-90. The score, a 33-point deficit, was actually closer than it seemed as the Mavs took their foot off the gas a bit towards the end of the game.

The NBA Twitterverse understandably went nuts over the proceedings. One voice that was left in disbelief over the result was none other than outspoken NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith, who lamented what he saw from the Suns on Sunday.

“I have never been more wrong,” admitted Stephen A. “I can’t believe how great the Mavs look — and how pathetically awful the Suns look. Chris Paul & Devin Booker have been no-shows. I can’t believe this.”

Not only did he call out the “pathetically awful” Suns, but he also ate his fair share of crow over the performance of the Mavs role players around Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson. Guys like Maxi Kleber and Reggie Bullock had their moments in the series. In Game 7, it was Spencer Dinwiddie with his 30 points off the bench.

The Mavs will go on to face the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals after toppling the Suns, who have an entire offseason to wash off the shame of their last defeat.
