Amidst an abysmal campaign midway through the 2020 NFL season, the Houston Texans are most likely to stand pat ahead of the trade deadline.

Texans chairman Cal McNair continues to put his trust and confidence with the current guys that he has in the locker room:

“No big moves,” McNair said about the Texans' plans. “You'll see some little things that happened over the weekend. We like our players. We have a lot to play for.”

“I am extremely optimistic. I don't believe in giving up. We won't. Our team won't. Ownership won't. Our coaches won't. We'll see where the season ends. This story on this season isn't written yet. We want to give our guys a chance.”

Houston failed to regain their fine form from a season ago where it ruled the AFC South as divisional champions after trading away All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins during the offseason. The hole in the team's offensive rotation was evident as quarterback Deshaun Watson's scoring options have become limited.

The Texans' continuous struggles led the team to part ways with former head coach and general manager Bill O'Brien, thus ending a seven-year partnership between the two sides.

Former assistant coach Romeo Crennel was then promoted to be the team's interim head coach where he took over the reins in Week 5 of the season.

He managed to snag a win in his coaching debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars but lost two consecutive games against the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers.

With a 1-6 record and their playoff aspirations gradually going down the drain, the Texans will have to figure out things themselves and aim to come out with a respectable performance for the remainder of the season.

They're set for another AFC South matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9.
