The Houston Texans have signed offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson to a one-year contract extension, according to the team.

It was a rough 2018 campaign for Henderson.

The 26-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Texans last March and eventually earned Houston's starting right tackle job. However, Henderson then suffered an ankle injury during the first week of the season, ending his year.

As a result of the fact that Henderson played in just one game in 2018, he lost more than $1.4 million in roster bonuses.

Henderson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Miami, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh round (237th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

In spite of being a seventh-round pick, Henderson actually earned the Bills' starting right tackle job during his rookie campaign, playing in all 16 games.

The following season, Henderson played in just 10 games, missing three contests at the end of the year after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease. He then underwent surgery to deal with the ailment prior to the 2016 campaign, but ended up getting suspended for the first four games of that year as a result of violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Henderson was then suspended 10 games for violating the substance abuse policy again in November 2016.

Henderson then played in seven games with the Bills in 2017 before proceeding to sign with the Texans as a free agent.

Houston won 11 games and captured the AFC South division title this past year, ultimately falling to the Indianapolis Colts in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
