In wake of rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson tearing his ACL last week, the Houston Texans have been scrambling to sort out their quarterback situation.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Texans parted ways with veteran quarterback Matt McGloin so they could Josh Johnson on Tuesday afternoon.

Houston had inked McGloin just a few hours after Watson suffered the major injury to sit in as the backup quarterback prior to Sunday's tilt against the Indianapolis Colts. He had previously signed with the Philadelphia Eagles over this past offseason before being released ahead of the regular season.

Meanwhile, Johnson served as the backup to Eli Manning last year with the New York Giants and was released by the team back in September. He has not played in a regular-season game since the 2013 season with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fourth-year quarterback Tom Savage has been holding down the starting job duties in Watson's absence. In his start on Sunday against the Colts, he recorded his first career touchdown pass while completing 19 of 44 passes for 219 yards.

One narrative that may come about from this move is that the Texans once again passed up on the opportunity to sign veteran quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who had recently filed a grievance against the NFL owners for blackballing him.
