The Houston Texans have fallen in an early-season rut after dropping the first two games in disappointing fashion, but the team has a chance to get back in the win column in Week 3 against the New York Giants.

This effort will feature the return of Pro Bowl defensive end Jadeveon Clowney after a one-game absence due to a back injury as he stated that he will play on Sunday afternoon, according to Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official website.

“If I’m out there with my pads on full-go, I don’t know who can be limited and stuff in a game so that’s crazy to me,” Clowney said. “I’ll be ready to go.”

“Very important for our front to go out and dominate this game. We got to come out and play this game and hopefully get a win at home.”

The presence of Clowney should provide a more some significant pass rush against the Giants' offensive line that has struggled to provide stable protection for quarterback Eli Manning. New York is currently tied for fifth-most sacks allowed (eight) with six of those coming against the Dallas Cowboys last week that had shown the massive holes in protection that the team has early on this season.

Clowney could have an opportunity to have a breakout game next to J.J. Watt, who is still working his way back into form from the broken leg that he suffered last season. When healthy, the 25-year-old has shown that he can be a game-changing factor as a pass rusher as he's coming off a career-high 9.5 sacks along with two forced fumbles that helped him earn his second straight Pro Bowl selection. Clowney has the talent that could see him make a major impact against the Giants that can help tilt the contest in the Texans' favor to grab their first win.

There is a great importance on this season for Clowney as he's in the fifth-year option of his rookie deal and is eyeing a new lucrative contract with the team. His performance on the field will be highly influential into the type of contract that the Texans will be willing to commit to him for the long haul.
