The addition of left tackle Laremy Tunsil has not done much to improve the Houston Texans' offensive line. At least not yet.

Deshaun Watson was sacked six times in the Texans' season-opening loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday night, which likely conjured up bad memories of last season, when Watson was sacked 62 times.

After the game, Tunsil was not happy about the shoddy protection he and the rest of Houston's offensive linemen gave their quarterback.

“We’re going to watch the film tomorrow and fix our mistakes,” Tunsil said, according to Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com. “How many sacks did we give up today? Six? We’ve got to improve that number. We’ve got to drop that number down a little bit.”

The Texans acquired Tunsil in a trade with the Miami Dolphins late last month, sending a couple of first-round picks and a second-rounder to the Dolphins in exchange for Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills.

But the move obviously did not pay off on Monday evening.

“They blitzed us, they got us on a couple of blitzes,” Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said. “I thought we did block them at times. We’ve got to block them more consistently and the ball has to come out a little bit quicker sometimes. Same old deal. We’ve just got to get a little bit better and work hard this week to shore this up.”

After seeing what happened to Andrew Luck as a result of the Indianapolis Colts not providing him with the proper protection for far too long, the Texans need to get this figured out, and fast.

Houston will play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday.
