The Houston Texans lucked out when they drafted Deshaun Watson 12th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. Watson had another great year in 2018 and PFF had an interesting stat on the Houston quarterback.

According to PFF, Watson was ranked third out of all 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL in passing yards outside of the pocket. In 2018, Watson threw for 686 yards outside of the pocket.

Everyone knows Watson is one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the NFL. Although, everyone thinks Watson runs too much but this stat helps show that he doesn't just settle for running it.

There are a ton of running quarterbacks in the NFL but some aren't able to create a balance of throwing it and running it. Watson has been able to use his legs in a positive way to make him more dangerous in the Texans' aerial attack.

There's no doubt that Watson is one of the best up and coming quarterbacks in the NFL. At just 23-years old, it's nice to see how quickly Watson is developing as a passer in the NFL.

Whether it has been in high school, college, or the NFL, Watson continues to show he's a bonafide winner. Just last postseason, Watson suffered his first double-digit loss since high school.

The loss wasn't because of Watson but the Texans need to protect their franchise quarterback way better than they did in 2018. Protecting him is even more important when you consider he is a guy who likes getting out of the pocket.

So much so, that Watson threw for 686 yards outside of the pocket in 2018.
