Deshaun Watson continues to be the subject of trade rumors, with the quarterback recently removing all mention of the Houston Texans on his social media accounts.

However, the Texans don’t seem keen to grant his request to be traded to a different team, with new general manager Nick Caserio saying that the team’s vision and plans include Watson. But according to NBC Sports’ Chris Simms, the three-time Pro Bowler has no plans to return to the Texans and is even willing to take it a step further and sit out the 2021 season if his trade request is not granted.

Speaking on Pro Football Talk with Mike Florio, Simms said that sources have told him that the 25-year-old Watson doesn’t want to play for the Texans again and is willing to skip the season to prove his point.

Watson, who is coming off a 2020 season that saw him lead all quarterbacks in passing yards, is just about to enter his prime and should generate interest from a lot of teams around the league. In his fourth season, he completed 382 of 544 passes for 4,823 yards and 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions in 16 games. The Texans, however, finished with a 4-12 record and missed the postseason after back-to-back playoff appearances.

While Caserio and the Texans organization still want to keep Watson, the former Clemson signal-caller has shown that he is adamant in his request to play for another team, which could further escalate the situation between the two sides. It remains to be seen whether it is the team or the quarterback who will blink first and give in to the other party's wishes.
