The beef between the Houston Texans and quarterback Deshaun Watson continues to escalate, especially after general manager Nick Caserio's introductory press conference for the team's new head coach in David Culley last week. Caserio's speech is believed to be the primary reason why Watson removed all his affiliations with the Texans organization on social media on Saturday.

Via the Miami Herald‘s Armando Salguero:

“So organizationally, just want to reiterate our commitment to Deshaun Watson,” Caserio said. “He’s had a great impact on this organization, a great impact on a lot of people, a great impact on this team, and we look forward to the opportunity to spend more time with him here this spring once we get started.

“And we have zero interest in trading the player. We have a great plan, a great vision for him and for this team and his role on our team and we look forward to the opportunity to spend more time with him here this spring.”

Caserio opted to refer to Watson as “the player” instead of his name midway through his speech. The reference apparently irked Watson, which prompted him to remove the Texans name from his Twitter and Instagram accounts. He now simply refers to himself as “Athlete” on social media.

Watson recently sent an official trade request to the Texans as the situation seemingly reached its boiling point. Amid the uncertainty, both Caseiro and Culley still expressed their desires to keep the three-time Pro Bowler at the helm despite the standoff happening between the two sides.

According to Salguero, Caseiro reportedly prioritizes the assembly of Culley's coaching staff instead of addressing the current situation and repairing their broken relationship with Watson. Nonetheless, the coming weeks will definitely be interesting as the future of the two parties remains unsteady at the moment.
