Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Andre Roberson is making good progress in his recovery from knee surgery and has been on a “really good track” as of late, according to head coach Billy Donovan.

Roberson suffered a setback in his rehabilitation from left patellar knee surgery in October. He sustained a ruptured left patellar tendon last season in January. The initial injury was healing well, but Roberson started to experience irritation from a suture which was placed in his leg.

As a result, Roberson's return to the court had to be put on hold. As each day goes by, though, Roberson is ramping up his workouts in practice, and Donovan is encouraged by what he is seeing.

“I’m sure for him there are some days he’s sorer than others,” Donovan said, via Erik Horne of The Oklahoman. “But overall, he just continues to progress and get better. You guys have seen him out here. He’s cutting, he’s moving. He’s been on a really good track.”

When Andre Roberson was on the court last season for the Thunder, opponents had an offensive rating of 99.2, according to Basketball-Reference.com. The rating jumped all the way up to 110.7 when Roberson went to the bench. His impact on the defensive end of the floor is unmatched.

In 39 games last season, Andre Roberson averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The 26-year-old shot 53.7 percent from the field, 22.2 percent from beyond the arc and 31.6 percent from the free-throw line. As you can see, shooting is not Roberson’s strong suit, but his tenacity on defense is what makes him such a valuable player for OKC.
