Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Hamidou Diallo was cleared to return in their game against the Atlanta Hawks Friday as per Royce Young of ESPN.

Just a week ago, Diallo suffered a scary ankle injury that seemed to have derailed his 2018-19 campaign.

It came against the Golden State Warriors, whom they played on the road last November 20. Diallo landed awkwardly on his left ankle, and the result was a gruesome sight.

Former Most Valuable Player and teammate Russell Westbrook looked heartbroken as medical staff members attended to a fallen Diallo.

Though they won by a huge margin 123-95, the team is mainly concerned with his condition. Diallo was stretchered off the court and did not see action in their following three games.

It is good to know that his injury is not that serious and that he'll be able to compete on the court once again.

The 20-year old guard was picked by the Thunder in the second round of the 2018 NBA draft.

In 16 games played, Diallo mainly contributed to the team coming off the bench. He averages 6.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per game this season.

Diallo made his debut last October 16 in Thunder's 108-100 loss to the Warriors. He went on to record four points, one rebound, one assist and a steal in his first-ever game.

A product of the Kentucky Wildcats, Diallo earned a gold medal with the United States Under-18 team in the FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship in 2016. He also won a bronze medal with the US Under-19 team in the FIBA Under-19 World Cup in 2017.
