The Minnesota Timberwolves kept their momentum going on Saturday and this resulted in an epic Game 1 performance against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Wolves dropped a whopping 130 points all over Ja Morant and Co. as they set a new scoring record not seen in nearly five decades.

The Grizzlies simply had no answer for the Wolves as Anthony Edwards led the way to a scoring barrage that just smashed a long-standing playoff record (h/t Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press):

Minnesota scored 130, in regulation, on the road and won Game 1 today. The last team to do that – 130 or more, on the road, no overtime, and win Game 1 – was the Knicks, 132-114 winners over Cleveland on April 12, 1978.

The fact that the Timberwolves poured on 130 points on the road against a formidable Grizzlies defense makes this feat even more amazing.

Anthony Edwards led the way for Minnesota with a game-high 36 points, which also happens to be the highest-scoring output for any Timberwolves player's postseason debut. Karl-Anthony Towns also dropped 29, while no less than four other players scored in double digits for them.

Ja Morant did all he could for the Grizzlies, himself scoring a team-high 32 points. It wasn't enough, though, as the Timberwolves draw first blood, 130-117, in this opening-round series.
