Minnesota Timberwolves president and head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters on Wednesday that starting point guard Jeff Teague will be out for a few days with a left ankle inflammation.

Teague missed the Wolves' last game against the Sacramento Kings with the injury, and his next chance to suit up will be against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night.

Jeff Teague has played in 23 games this season. The veteran guard is averaging 11.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game while shooting 38.4 percent from the field, 31.1 percent from beyond the arc and 86.4 percent from the free-throw line. His 8.3 dimes per game place him fifth in the league in assists per game.

Luckily for the Timberwolves, they have a healthy and rolling Derrick Rose on the team, who will start at point guard until Teague can return. Rose is averaging 25.3 points and 6.6 assists in seven starts this season, shooting 46.8 percent from the floor as well as a blistering 55.9 percent from the 3-point line.

Third-year guard Tyus Jones and rookie Josh Okogie will likely see extended playing time while Teague is out. Minnesota is currently 14-16 on the season sitting in 13th place in the Western Conference.

Jerryd Bayless, the third player the Timberwolves acquired in the Jimmy Butler trade from the Philadelphia 76ers, is still rehabbing a knee injury which has forced him to miss every game this year.
