If you didn't drop a reworked album, worldwide tour dates and new music video to kick your week off then clearly you're not Donald Glover — also known in his musical endeavors as the Childish Gambino. The prolific and multi-talented actor/writer/singer announced a new version of “3.15.20” on Monday — an album he originally released as a work-in-progress on that titular date during the early days of the pandemic. The new version of the album is being called “Atavista,” as that was Glover's initially intended title for the project.

As if new album news wasn't enough, he also announced dates for “The New World Tour,” a worldwide concert tour that launches in August.

Then, Glover put out a music video for the album's single “Little Foot Big Foot,” stylistically directed by his frequent collaborator Hiro Murai, featuring rapper Young Nudy.

Finally, he told his fans that his next musical effort will be the last installment of the Gambino project, and it will double as a soundtrack to Glover's accompanying film, “Bando Storm and the New World.”

That's a lot to take in on a Monday morning, even for an artist as talented and prolific as Glover, so let's break all those announcements down one at a time.

Why did Donald Glover rework his 3.15.20 album?

As Donald Glover explained in his social media post, “ATAVISTA is streaming now / this album is the finished version of ‘3.15.20', the album i put out 4 years ago.”

As he has previously recounted on his Gilga radio platform on Instagram, Glover originally put out 3.15.20 as an unfinished work — he just wanted to get it out there during those early days of the Covid-19 pandemic with the state of the world so in flux. The album was understandably and fairly quickly overshadowed by the world health crisis.

As Glover explained, “The project I put out, ‘3.15.20' that no one’s ever heard of, people didn’t even know I put it out, it was originally titled ‘Atavista,' it was supposed to be ‘Atavista'.”

He continued, “But we put it out quickly, I didn’t master or mix it, I just kind of put it out. I was going through a lot, n—s thought everybody was going to die because it was the pandemic.”

Then Glover added, “We put it out, we finished it, it’s ‘Atavista,' we’re putting that out.”

The reworked album will have two new tracks that weren't on the original 3.15.20 release.

What about the New World Tour news?

Let's move on to Childish Gambino's next big reveal — he'll be performing in his first worldwide tour since 2018 called The New World Tour. This one's going through North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and launches in August.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, May 17 at 10am local time zone. Fans can also sign up for early access to tickets via the artist presale; in North America, Australia and select dates in the UK, American Express Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public.

How's the new Hiro Murai-directed music video, Little Foot Big Foot?

Looks like Glover and his frequent collaborator Hiro Murai have another stylized hit on their hands. Murai directed many episodes of Glover's hit comedic drama series Atlanta for FX, and they also have worked together on many Childish Gambino music videos. This one is a black and white period piece with high-profile cameos, action and dance moves galore, and features Young Nudy — best to check it out for yourself:

And what's this about Childish Gambino's last album?! And a movie too?

Donald Glover also added in his Gilga radio Instagram interview after speaking of Atavista that, “then after that, there’s a Childish Gambino album, the final Childish Gambino album.”

Wait, what?! He further explained that it would serve as the soundtrack to an upcoming movie Glover has in the works, Bando Storm and the New World. Not much is known about the film but it certainly has a superhero-y sounding name. Plus, Glover has cited past movie soundtracks like Prince's 1989 Batman tunes and the album for 1995's Batman Forever as inspiration.

All in all, it's good to be Donald Glover and/or the Childish Gambino right now, with so many exciting new creative projects in the works. As for the rest of us, try not to feel too bad if you haven't had quite as productive of a start to your week. At least you can cheer up with plenty of new good music to listen to.
