The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly set to meet with Brooklyn Nets point guard D'Angelo Russell at the start of NBA free agency on Sunday.

Russell is certainly expected to be a hot commodity, and there are likely many NBA teams already working on ways to sign him.

And the Timberwolves are apparently among those teams considering that they will meet with him when free agency begins, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports:

Minnesota Timberwolves to meet with Brooklyn Nets restricted free agent guard D’Angelo Russell at the start of free-agency, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Of course, for the Timberwolves to actually sign him, they'll need to clear enough cap space to make that a possibility.

And doing so would undoubtedly involve trading Andrew Wiggins, as that would give them the cap room necessary to actually sign a player like Russell.

There have also been plenty of rumors regarding the Los Angeles Lakers being interested in bringing back Russell, which would help form quite the trio with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

But the Timberwolves are clearly trying to get a head start on everyone else, and pairing him with Karl Anthony-Towns would help the franchise take a big step forward next season.
