During the whole Jimmy Butler trade drama earlier in the season, the Minnesota Timberwolves were trying to move big man Gorgui Dieng as well, but they weren't able to find a taker for him because of his big contract.

Gorgui Dieng signed a four-year, $62.8 million deal with the Timberwolves in 2016. The 28-year-old is only averaging 5.8 points and 4.0 rebounds per game this season and his minutes have decreased with the addition of forward Dario Saric.

As a result, Minnesota has gauged the trade market again on Gorgui Dieng, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic:

The Timberwolves have also gauged the trade market again on Gorgui Dieng, league sources told The Athletic. Earlier this season, Minnesota attempted to attach him in Jimmy Butler trade talks as well.

After starting all 82 games during the 2016-17 season, Dieng moved to the bench the following season when Gibson — a Thibodeau favorite from their days in Chicago — joined the Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves are probably not going to get much in return for Gorgui Dieng, who has career averages of 8.0 points and 6.4 rebounds. Minnesota is 17-20 on the season, good for 13th place in the Western Conference.

At this point, just getting Dieng's contract off the books would be a win for the organization.
