The Tennessee Titans are coming off their first playoff appearance in nine years, hoping to build off that momentum heading into the 2018 season.

A major piece of that puzzle will be Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker, who has proven to be a major asset in the offensive game plan. However, it appears that the 34-year-old suffered an injury during a joint practice on Thursday with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. (h/t Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk)

According to multiple reports from practice, Walker was injured while being tackled at the end of a completed pass from quarterback Marcus Mariota. He left the field with members of the team’s medical staff.

This is potentially a huge loss for the Titans, as Walker is one of the key factors to the passing game that quarterback Marcus Mariota depends on greatly. The team will look to tend to this situation with much precaution, with the hope that the injury won't force him to miss a lengthy period of time.

In his first five years with the Titans, Walker has notched at least 60 catches in each campaign while topping 800 receiving yards in the last four seasons, which are the most for a tight end in franchise history. He has also led his position in reception (356) over that span.

Walker is coming off a campaign where he led the team with both 74 catches and 807 receiving yards in addition to three touchdowns. In the process, he surpassed 5,000 career receiving yards. For all 12th year players in the league in 2017, he led in receptions, receiving yards, first down catches (43), and receiving yards per game (50.4).

His productivity helped him secure a much-earned two-year extension worth $17 million that runs through the 2020 season. More details of Walker's injury should come out over the next few days, providing better timetable for his return to the field.
