The 2018 NFL season lasted just one game for Tennesee Titans tight end Delanie Walker. It appears sitting out the entire year has left him more motivated than ever.

Walker suffered a dislocated ankle in the season opener versus the Miami Dolphins. According to Jim Wyatt of the team's official website, he is looking to come back strong this season:

“This is going to be my motivation year,” Walker said. “I always say that I am motivated every year, but coming off an injury like that and then me being 35 (in August) going into next season, I’ll be extra motivated. I feel like this is the year I need to show everyone I came back from an injury, I’m 35, and I am still the best tight end in the NFL.”

Walker's comments are certainly understandable. The Titans were optimistic about the state of their offense at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, Walker's injury would be the first of many on that side of the ball.

Despite some of the changes Tennesee has made since then, it is safe to say that the three-time Pro Bowler will remain an integral part of the team's passing attack moving forward. Walker has become a bit of a safety net for quarterback Marcus MAriota when healthy. He finished the 2017 campaign 74 receptions for 807 yards and three touchdowns.

Head coach Mike Vrabel has indicated that the team will still be taking a cautious approach with Walker's recovery this offseason. As a result, he could get a late start in the team's offseason workouts.

Regardless, their primary concern will be making sure he is as healthy as possible for the start of the 2019 campaign.
