Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota did not come out for the second half during his team's game against the Washington Redskins on Saturday, according to Turron Davenport of ESPN NFL Nation.

Mariota appeared to injure himself in the first half, as he went straight to the locker room before the half ended.

Former NFL team head doctor David J. Chao seems to think Mariota injured his elbow after a sack, and Davenport later stated that Mariota has a stinger and is questionable to return.

Blaine Gabbert has replaced Mariota.

The injury comes at the worst possible time for a Titans team that is fighting for its playoff life. Tennessee went into Saturday's action with a record of 8-6 and was in the thick of the AFC Wild Card race.

However, due to tiebreakers, the 8-6 Baltimore Ravens held the second Wild Card spot, meaning the Titans would likely need to win out in order to have a chance of making the postseason.

Mariota completed 10 of his 13 passes for 110 yards in the first 30 minutes against the Redskins.

The 25-year-old has dealt with injury problems for the last two years. Last season, Mariota was compromised by a shoulder issue that played a role in what ended up being a very disappointing season for the signal-caller, as he finished with just 3,232 yards, 13 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

Mariota, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oregon, was originally selected by the Titans with the second overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft.

This season, he has thrown for 2,528 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight picks.
