The Tennessee Titans are in the midst of some serious spending this offseason. As a result, it seems defensive tackle Jurrell Casey has become a cap casualty.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Titans have traded Casey to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a seventh-round pick:

It is safe to say that this is quite the steal for the Broncos. Casey has long served as the anchor of the Titans defense and is still at the top of his game after making the Pro Bowl for the last five consecutive seasons.

The decision to part ways with Casey is directly tied to his heavy price tag after signing a four-year, $60.4 million contract extension prior to the 2017 campaign. The Titans were essentially willing to take any pick in order to pass on his lucrative deal to another team in an effort to shore up some much-needed cap space.

Tennessee was able to address their need for a pass-rusher with the signing of former Atlanta Falcons outside linebacker Vic Beasley. Unfortunately, they are now left with a rather notable void to fill up front heading into the 2020 NFL season.

Meanwhile, the Broncos were able to secure one of the best interior lineman in the NFL with Casey. He finished the 2019 NFL season with 44 tackles, 5.0 sacks, and 10 quarterback hits despite not having much help alongside him with the titans lackluster pass rush. Fortunately, his arrival should help pay huge dividends for linebackers Von Miller and Bradley Chubb on the edge.
