Following a brutal 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on the weekend, the Tottenham board has decided to sack manager Nuno Espirito Santo, despite only hiring him this past summer.

This is absolutely shocking news. Spurs are in shambles and it just goes to show that the club will go to any heights necessary to potentially turn things around. That being said, sources close to ESPN say that Tottenham is in advanced talks with Antonio Conte to be their next boss. The Italian is currently jobless after leaving Inter Milan at the end of last season, where he led them to a Serie A title.

Espirito Santo was in charge of Spurs for a mere 17 games prior to his firing and frankly wasn't given enough of a chance to make an impact. Sure, the side was sitting eighth in the Premier League table with a 5-0-5 record, but it's still extremely early in the campaign. It does feel like a premature decision from chairman Daniel Levy.

Tottenham will be hoping Conte is the right man for the job if he's appointed. After all, he's already enjoyed the utmost success at various clubs across Europe and in England, previously winning the PL with Chelsea. Reports suggest Spurs are offering him an 18-month deal with the option of another year. Conte is expected to be in North London on Monday to continue negotiations. He was also briefly linked to the United job if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was relieved of his duties, but the Norwegian looks to be safe for the time being.
