The Portland Trail Blazers social media team made sure the Denver Nuggets knew about the changes in the standings after their games on Sunday.

Following their easy win against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Blazers have overtaken them for the eighth seed in the Western Conference. Although they are tied in the win-loss column, they currently own the season series, 2-1.

With only nine games left on their schedules, every game is a must-win now if they want to make it to the playoffs. The Blazers though own a slight advantage as even if they end up with an identical record as the Nuggets, they will still be above them in the standings as they have a superior winning percentage against Northwest Division teams. They are scheduled to square off on Tuesday in a game with big playoff implications.

Despite their slow start to the year, Portland is peaking at the right time. They have won 11 of their past 13 games which, giving them a big opportunity to extend their season. Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum may have been leading their team, but Jusuf Nurkic, Allen Crabbe, and Al-Farouq Aminu, just to name a few, have all been solid for them by understanding their roles and doing what is asked of them.

The Blazers have proven in the past that they are capable of lifting their games to a higher level once the playoffs start. With the confidence they now have and the support they're getting from their fans, they might just be able to make some noise in the postseason. However, for now, they must first make sure they reach that point.
