With all the new name, image and likeness rules being instituted for college athletes, it brought to mind some past instances that could be readdressed. None of those is more notable than former USC star Reggie Bush and his Heisman Trophy that he won in 2005 only to have it taken away.

Reggie Bush has since made an attempt to get his Heisman Trophy back and on Wednesday, a ruling came down.

The ruling by the NCAA is pretty simply put that they won't revisit older cases just because of the new NIL rules that allow college athletes to benefit and profit off of their own name, image and likeness. The decision seems final for Reggie Bush and it's one that he and fans certainly won't like.

Reggie Bush took not only USC, not only the Pac-10 (at the time) by storm in college, he had the entire sport tuning in to watch him dazzle on the field. And from 2003-2005 he did just that, racking up insane numbers as a running back, wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner. His career was capped with the Heisman Trophy year and now that award that he seemed to covet so much, will not be returned to him.

It's a tough ruling handed down by the NCAA and it appears that Bush has exhausted just about every avenue that he could've to try and get the trophy back. Even though the trophy is gone, the memories of what he did for college football in his three years at USC can't ever be taken away.
