Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton is finally having a healthy season again. The 28-year-old superstar is in a great position to make his first-ever MLB All-Star Game.

Buxton is one of the best power hitters in the majors. His 22 home runs are tied for the sixth-most in the majors and his slugging percentage of .543 ranks 11th. Not only is he slugging but he is doing so while on a historic streak.

By taking Texas Rangers starting pitcher Dane Dunning deep in the first inning today, Buxton now has 50 home runs since his last time grounding into a double play. No player has a stretch that long since double plays became officially tracked in both leagues over 80 years ago.

More often than not, a Byron Buxton dinger gives the Twins the lead, which showcases his immense value to the AL Central's top dogs.

Although Buxton mashes, his .293 on-base percentage will do him no favors. The Twins star also doesn't have an outrageous ability to draw walks. Still, his remarkable extra-base hitting and defense make him one of the best outfielders in the game.

Sadly for Buxton, he plays in the same league as Aaron Judge and Mike Trout, two of the game's greatest players who are posting MVP-worthy seasons in the outfield for their respective teams. Those are two spots that are simply not up for grabs. With Giancarlo Stanton taking the oter starting spot, Buxton will compete with stars like George Springer, Julio Rodriguez and Kyle Tucker and more to earn a spot.

Buxton signed a massive extension this offseason despite all his injury concerns and is backing it up with his tremendous play. Even if the Twins star doesn't make an All-Star game, Byron Buxton's season will be seen as a complete success.
