Prepare to say goodbye to some classic multiplayer games. Ubisoft is about to pull the plug for some of its older titles, which include Rainbow Six Vegas and a dozen others.

R6 VEGAS, ASSASSIN'S CREED 2, FAR CRY 2 ONLINE SERVERS TO GO DARK

Ubisoft has decided to discontinue online support for a dozen of their old games. Some of these games, like Assassin's Creed 2, are more than a decade old. It's reasonable to assume that these games' multiplayer servers are mostly empty nowadays. Hence, It shouldn't be surprising to hear about this news.

A couple of Rainbow Six games are getting the ax. These are Rainbow Six Vegas, its sequel Vegas 2, and Rainbow Six Lockdown. Meanwhile, another Tom Clancy game will lose its online server – Ghost Recon Future Soldier. The exact date on when these games will lose their online functionalities wasn't indicated in the forum post. Instead, it simply lists “2021”.

Meanwhile, a much more specific date has been given to some other favorite titles – this time unrelated to Tom Clancy. On June 1, the forum post indicates that the following games will cease its online services:

  • Assassin's Creed 2
  • Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands
  • Far Cry 2
  • Anno 1404
  • Might & Magic – Clash of Heroes
  • Splinter Cell Conviction
  • The Settlers 7
  • Might & Magic X – Legacy

HEY, I OWN SOME OF THESE GAMES. WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN, EXACTLY?

If you own Rainbow Six Vegas or any of the games above, don't worry so much, you can still play the game's single-player modes as usual. What's going away are the multiplayer online services for the game. Its features related to Ubisoft Connect will also go dark, and any currency you might have for the game will disappear. Any unlockable content will also be disabled, even if you've unlocked them before the game's servers went dark.
