Brenden Rice announced that he is taking his talents to USC next season. Brenden, the son of NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, will transfer from the University of Colorado to the University of Southern California. He will continue his football career as a member of the Trojans rather than the Buffaloes moving forward.

FOX College Football tweeted the news Tuesday afternoon.

Rice began his college football career with Colorado in 2021. In his freshman season, Rice played nine games, recording 21 receptions for 299 yards and three touchdowns.

The Buffaloes had a lackluster season with a losing record of 4-8. They finished fourth in the PAC-12 South, just above the Arizona Wildcats. The USC Trojans finished just above the Buffaloes in the PAC-12 South.

Rice is following in the footsteps of his father, who was a wide receiver at Mississippi Valley State and entered the NFL Hall of Fame as a legendary professional wide receiver.

The 6'3″, 205 lbs receiver will begin his sophomore season at USC next fall. He will be joined by Mario Williams, another transfer wide receiver. Williams spent his freshman year at the University of Oklahoma. Williams had 35 receptions for 380 yards and four touchdowns his freshman year, slightly better than Rice. However, Rice has half a foot of height on Williams, as well as nearly 15 lbs. It will be intriguing to see how head coach Lincoln Riley fits the two promising receivers into his team at USC.
