The 2023-24 UEFA Champions League draw was unkind to USWNT stars. AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah, along with Borussia Dortmund’s Gio Reyna, fared the worst, as their squads are in the Group of Death along with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Newcastle. The clubs featuring other USMNT members fared slightly better, but it is going to be an uphill battle for most to get out of the Group Stage.

Outside of the Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah vs. Gio Reyna battle between AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund in Group H, the Group of Death, the 2023-24 Champions League draw featured several more USMNT stars or potential 2024 World Cup team members.

In Group B, the Netherlands’ PSV Eindhoven features three Americans, with defender Sergino Dest, midfielder Malik Tillman, and striker Ricardo Pepi all on the team. The Dutch side is the third-ranked club in the group, behind Sevilla and Arsenal but ahead of Lens. They won’t be favored to get out of the group, but there is a chance.

Group C features Brenden Aaronson, who is at Union Berlin on loan from the recently demoted Leeds United. The German side will face a gauntlet of Napoli, Real Madrid, and Portugal’s Braga and unfortunately have almost no chance to advance.

USMNT defender Cameron Carter-Vickers will play for Celtic in Group E when he recovers from his hamstring injury, and they will face a tough, but not completely unwinnable, run vs. Feyenoord, Atletico Madrid, and Lazio.

Finally, in Group H, American fullback Sam Vines will make a quick exit with Antwerp as it takes on Barcelona, Porto, and Shakhtar Donetsk.
