It's safe to say that it has been a rough year for Jason Witten — and that's putting it lightly.

The former Dallas Cowboys tight end and current ESPN broadcaster just wrapped up his first year in the booth and things did not go well throughout the entire process. Whether it was stumbling over himself during commentary or making mistake after mistake, Witten concluded this first go-round in an appropriate fashion.

After Sunday afternoon's Pro Bowl concluded, Witten was tasked with handing over the trophy to New York Jets defensive back Jamal Adams and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who were named as the game's best defensive and offensive players, respectively. Unable to even do that, Witten seemingly broke the trophy immediately upon grasping it.

Granted, it was Witten's first season as a member of the ESPN team, it did not go well at all. Despite stringing together quite the illustrious career on the field as a tight end for the once-heralded Cowboys, Witten did not encounter a similar fate upon moving to the booth. Mistakes certainly happen, but Witten's performance all year long could only be categorized as atrocious — which was pretty much a consensus pick.

Because of Tony Romo's success with CBS, it seemed as though the expectations surrounding Witten were through the roof before he even made his way into the booth. Although unfair considering his lack of experience, it can only get better for Witten going forward as it is nearly impossible to get any worse.
