The Minnesota Vikings reluctantly traded Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills this offseason, leaving Dalvin Cook distraught at the move. Just around a month after the trade was completed, Cook shared his thoughts on the Diggs trade.

“That one hurt,” Cook said in a telephone interview with the Pioneer Press. “It hurt. That's my brother. You know how close me and Diggsie were. To see him leave, it hurts because you spend so much time with a guy. … It hurt a lot of guys in the locker room, but it's part of the business. We've got to accept that Diggs wanted to be happy and be happy for him as a player.”

Cook and Diggs spent the past three seasons together with the Vikings, forming a longtime friendship on and off of the field. However, Diggs became discontent with his role in Minnesota, lashing out on the sideline during the 2019 season.

Despite the tension between Diggs and the Vikings, the former fifth-round pick still finished with 63 receptions for a career-high 1,130 yards and six touchdowns. Nonetheless, Minnesota received an offer from the Bills that they couldn't refuse.

Altogether, Minnesota was able to get four draft picks, including a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. With Diggs no longer with the Vikings, Cook should expect to see an even heavier workload next season.

Similar to Diggs, Cook is also coming off of a career year, rushing for 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2019. Even though he's upset to see his teammate leave via trade, Cook understands that there's a business side to the NFL.
