Jordan Taylor is currently playing as the Minnesota Vikings' No. 3 wideout.

The Athletic's Arif Hassan reported on the development on June 5.

From a ‘fit' perspective, rookie Dillon Mitchell is the receiver most likely to add to the offense with something new and complementary because of his proclivity for getting open deep.

But that doesn't necessarily mean he's the best receiver for the job – right now Jordan Taylor is taking first-team wide receiver reps in three-receiver packages and he looks like he's deserved to win the job thus far.

Taylor told Eric Smith of the Vikings' official website on May 28 he's familiar with offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski's offense. It's similar to the system Vikings assistant head coach Gary Kubiak implemented when he was the head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2015 to 2016. Taylor played for the Broncos from 2015 to 2018.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer told Vikings.com Taylor has “good height” and “catches the ball well.” Moreover, Zimmer likes Taylor's acceleration out of the cuts on his receiving routes.

Taylor confided to Smith he's battling for a spot at wide receiver behind Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. Taylor also said he'd like to be in the mix at punt returner as well.

Taylor signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Rice University four years ago. He was on Denver's Super Bowl 50-winning roster. The Vikings signed him to a one-year deal on April 13.

Can Jordan Taylor exceed expectations with the Minnesota Vikings? Let's hope he will.
